Renovation of the Truman Sports Complex was authorized by a vote of the Jackson County residents in April 2006 with construction commencing in late 2007. Kauffman Stadium is scheduled to be completed during the 2009 baseball season and Arrowhead Stadium is scheduled to be complete for the 2010 football season.
Renovation Progress Reports
The Jackson County Sports Authority reports monthly to the Jackson County Executive and Legislature. These reports include information regarding the construction progress, expenditures, and minority participation.
Minority Participation
Pursuant to the terms of the Development Agreement and the Lease Agreement , Jackson County, the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs entered into a Fair Share Agreement in an effort to assure that the opportunities are maximized for minority-owned business enterprises ("MBEs") and women-owned business enterprises ("WBEs") to participate in the stadium renovation project. The Fair Share Agreement establishes a Fairness Committee and an MBE/WBE Coordinator to assist and monitor the construction project for the county.
